Norwich Firefighters Local 892 is proud to announce that Battalion Chief Tracy Montoya has been promoted to Chief of Department. Chief Montoya has served the City of Norwich for almost 29 years. He has been the commander of Platoon 1 since 2007. Chief Montoya has also served in the US Navy and Navy Reserves for 33 years.

On the evening Wednesday January 9th, a small group local members put their athletic skills to the test during a basketball game with the Highlands Ranch Community Association, Therapeutic Recreation Southridge Nuggets Team. Just after the noon hour on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 Bennett-Watkins Fire Rescue transmitted a 2nd Alarm for a structure fire involving hazardous materials near East Quincy Avenue and South Watkins Road in Arapahoe County.

St. Paul Firefighters who rang bells for the Salvation Army at Midway Cub Foods, the Grand Meander, and MN Wild home games collected a total of $14,654.00.  Almost $2000 more than last year.  Thanks to your efforts, those in need will continue to benefit from the services that the Salvation Army provides.

At 8:08 p.m. on Sunday December 30th, Local members responded to numerous 911 reports of an apartment building on fire at 2172 S. Trenton Way in Arapahoe County. While en-route, Battalion Chief 5 observed heavy flames and requested a 2nd Alarm, nearly doubling the amount of members and equipment.

Honoring Fallen Worcester Firefighter

One of Local 2687’s own, Lieutenant Dave Wood, also happens to be the head brewer for BAR in New Haven. Lieutenant Wood wanted to brew a special beer to honor Worcester, Massachusetts firefighter Christopher Roy, who selflessly gave his life fighting a five alarm fire on Dec. 9th. “Last Alarm IPA” has been on tap for a week now and selling really well.
